What does a website cost in Berlin?
Most suppliers answer this question with „it depends" and a contact form. Here are the numbers.
The short answer
There are two ways, and you decide which one fits your business better.
- Rent: from 290 euros once for the setup, then 50 euros a month. You pay for the setup one time. After that, hosting, technical upkeep and small ongoing changes are included. If your opening hours change or a price goes up, you write to me and it is done.
- Buy: from 1,190 euros once. You get the finished website with every agreed file and login, and from then on it is yours. Hosting and upkeep are yours to handle, or they can stay with me.
As a small business under § 19 of the German VAT Act I do not charge VAT. The amount you see is the amount you pay.
What actually moves the price
Not the design. A good-looking page does not cost more than an ugly one, it only takes longer to finish, and that time is on me.
What makes it more expensive is scope and technology. Every extra page, online booking, a shop, several languages, an area behind a login. And content: if text and photos already exist, things move fast. If both have to be made first, that is the largest item on any quote, from any supplier.
What comes back every year
A .de domain costs somewhere around ten to twenty euros a year, depending on the registrar. Hosting for a small business website is often under sixty euros a year. With the rental model both are included. If you buy, both run through you, unless you add the upkeep.
One thing people forget: a website nobody maintains goes stale. Wrong opening hours over Christmas cost more than a whole year of upkeep.
And a website builder?
A builder costs little money and a lot of time. The monthly fee is manageable, but you build it yourself, you maintain it yourself, and six months in you notice that it does not work on a phone or that it pulls fonts from somebody else's server. If you have the time and enjoy it, that is a good way. If you are running a business, usually not.
How to spot a quote that is too cheap: there is no fixed price, only a range. It is not clear who owns the website afterwards. And nobody has asked you about photos.
How to get a number for your case
Write to me with how many pages you need, whether you have photos, and whether anything has to be booked or ordered. Then you get a fixed price, not a range. The first conversation costs nothing.
